I just love charcoal! It's incredibly stimulating. Smearing black chalk all over a page in particular shapes is just so fun...and makes you feel so free. It's a really fast form of art. I did this one in like two or three hours...as opposed to the twelve hour pointillisms I've been doing lately. Not that I don't enjoy every minute I do my pointillisms, because believe me I do, it's just fun to sit down and carelessly scratch out a sloppy picture. Quite therapeutic.

Wesley
My friend asked me to draw a pointillism of her son. I was kinda nervous to do it because I know him off one picture, and she knows him off a lifetime of pictures. I hope I captured the love in his eyes and the happiness in his smile that she sees in him everyday. :) It was pretty fun. The shirt was insane though!

Smoking Colors!
So I thought I'd have some extra fun with pointillism! These pictures are ugly, and a little on the psychadelic side, but they were kinda meant to be that way. I went against my usual art preference with a more nonrealistic point of view here.
This first one is George Harrison. The purple actually looks more purplier in person.
Then here's Paul McCartney. I didn't think the real picture looked much like him, but it's the only picture I could find of him to go with my theme.
Here's Ringo Starr. Yes, he is supposed to look like he's staring...because he is. His page looks a little empty so I think I might add some more to him, but I wanted to post now so here he is.
And last but not least, John Lennon. Looking quite red and evil. Like the purple the red looks different in person. This red actually isn't as bright as it appears, the flash makes it seem more neon than it really is.

Pointillism again!
So, I've fallen in love! I am absolutely enjoying pointillism. It's so fun! Quite time consuming, but very fun! Here is a picture I just did of Little Dellie blowing bubbles.

Pointillism!!!
So I haven't really ever done much pointillism before, but I wanted to try it so here we are. It's freakin' crazy!! For those of you who don't know, it's billions of dots put together to make a picture. I personally used felt tips and perminant markers, I don't really know what other people use. I found it easier to use different thicknesses of pens too. This picture that I just finished today is John Lennon.
Here is the beginning of my picture.
Here it is in the middle.
Here it is finished.

Oil Pastels
I've never done oil pastels before, so I don't really know if there's some special technique....but if there is, I didn't use it. I was at the craft store one day, and I saw the pastels and I thought to myself, "Lilly, those look like fun." So I bought them. They're pretty fun. They were kinda hard to get used to, they remind me of crayons. They're not pointed at all so details are hard...however if you accidentally leave them in your car and they melt in their trays, a point can conveniently be formed. This first picture of my Little Dellie was my very fist picture with oil pastels.
I'll take you through the steps. :) Here I have drawn the majority of the left side of the paper...
...And here it is almost done...
This next picture is also of Little Dellie. This was my second, and also my most recent oil pastel. Everytime I see it I touch it up more, so I don't really know if it's finished yet, or when it officially will be. :)

Dead Tree
In this picture there's less reflection on the glass than the others.
Here it is by itself.
Here is my name on a cute little tag. I named my picture Dead Tree and everyone made fun of me for it. ...It is a Dead Tree after all.
And here I am with my picture

Slash
I finally went down to the Springville Art Museum where my tiles of Slash were on display. It was a really cool museum with a lot of cool art projects. I enjoyed it.
This one is my name on a nice little piece of construction paper that was taped to the wall! (would have looked more official had they taken the time to at least laminate it..but whatever.) You may think the NFS stands for Not For Sale, but in this case you'd be wrong, it stands for Neat, Fantastic, and Super! :)
Here I am desplaying it on the wall next to it's neighborly projects. It's the one in the middle...next to me...of Slash...that my arms are under...
So it's really hard to take pictures of tiles because of the reflection. This picture you can kinda see it. Hey look in the right corner...it's my construction paper name tag!! :)
So I found if I take the picture at an angle you can see less reflection. Here it is from the top.
...And here it is from the bottom. In these pictures you can tell better that there six different tiles put together to make the picture.

Metal
Here are two of my metal impressions. I personally fancy the metal over the copper because it's easier to mold...and it matches my room better. The cool thing with the metal is that you can lightly spraypaint it black and scratch parts of it off. It's rad because it makes it look like it's old like from the sixties. :)

Charcoal
You can always tell when I've been doing charcoal because I look like I'm a miner. I'm not the cleanest artist, but honestly, how clean can you be with chalky rocks. Although it is a messy art, I sure do love it! Taking pictures of art is hard, sorry if they aren't the cleanest pictures, but you get the gist.
Here is a charcoal picture of my dear friend George Harrison I did back in October of 2006.

This is a picture I did of Frank Sinatra, old blue eyes himself. I took the photograph is at an angle so he looks a little chubby.
This picture of Jim Morrison I just couldn't get to turn out right with my camera. The lights and darks are a little off, but you get the gist.Posted by Annie Cole at 8:28 PM 13 say say say what you want
